THE NEW WORLD
This will be my first time in Miami, Florida following a near arrest while performing in 2022 during Untitled Art Fair. My project is an installation titled, The New World, featuring a large paper tapestry, a video performance of The Myth of Sisyphus, two ceramic urns, a ceremonial candle, and a baseball bat from the performance. The objects and video performance are vibrant material abstractions of the Myth of Sisyphus as a philosophical text by Albert Camus and its original myth. The video performance serve as a bridge between those abstractions and the contextual shift presenting this myth in the context of "The New World." Embedded in the video performance are audio translations of the Camus text in English and Spanish derived from the original French text.
